Isla Mujeres Italian Ice Cream.
New thing to do at Isla.
In my last visit to Isla Mujeres, one of the things or change that gets my attention was the Italian ice cream stores; I saw almost one in every street at down town Isla Mujeres. Even you can find the typical Mexican ice cream street seller but is not “bolis” or “garrafa mexican ice cream” what he is offering, he offer Italian ice cream.
I’m not complaining, I love ice cream, and this was delicious! It is just something that I notice. You can ask for a little taste before decide between all the good flavors, for me the mango and vanilla was awesome. If you buy your ice cream at the street little cart you can choose between 2 or 3 flavor but if you go to one of the stores, you will have a lot of flavors to choose. What is bad? That every ice cream store is different they are not a chain brand, they are family home made ice cream, so you need to visit at least 3 to taste and know the difference between them and then decide which is your favorite.
A lot of posts that I had read in these days said that they love to go there because there is always a handsome Italian guy, but I really don’t remember that, I remember that every taste that they gave us I love it so I decide to have one double scoop cone, I remember that the cone was made right in the moment so it was really crispy and I also remember that I didn’t walk to much when my cone was gone because I eat it to fast.
Want to visit Isla Mujeres?
These are some options:
Cancun Public Transportation from Hotel Zone
In Cancun, you can go around the hotel zone by public bus. the new buses have WiFi and air condition, but if you step on one and do not have air condition or WiFi please don´t get mad and enjoy the trip. Most of the buses still don’t have it.
There is only one avenue at the hotel zone and all the buses, cars and taxis had to go by this way so, if you want to go to a restaurant or a mall you can take the bus, just tell the driver where you need to go down.
The buses go all the way by Kukulcan Avenue from the beginning of the hotel zone to Cancun Downtown area.
The name of the routes are: “Ruta 1” and “Ruta 2”, some times you will see “Ruta 15”.
What are the differences?
Well, if you want to go all the way to Cancun downtown area an visit Walt-mart, Sam´s or Market 28 you have to take “Ruta 2” or “Ruta 15”.
And if you want to go to downtown area but to the Bus Station (ADO) where the buses to Playa del Carmen and Tulum are, you have to take “Ruta 1”.
Also if you want to go to Puerto Juarez area (where you take the ferry to Isla mujeres) is “Ruta 1”.
If this is your first time to visit Cancun, you need to read first “Downtown area Cancun”, “Market 28” and “How to get to Playa del Carmen and Tulum from Cancun” posts.
How much it this cost? One way ticket less than 10 pesos
If you pay with dollars is going to be 1 dollar, because bus drivers do not accept american coins and they do not have any to give change. You have to pay every time that you take a bus.
Every hotel and Mall at the Cancun hotel zone has a Taxi spot, if your prefer you can take a taxi to take you where you want to go.
The taxi spot has a big transfers price list board. If you need a receipt for this service most all the drivers gave receipts but is good to ask before you take the trip. So before you get in a taxi know how much will be and that you will have a received.
Safety tip: Always check that the taxi has the id card with the driver name, driver licence and photo. If you take a public bus, always check for this and always ask for your ticket.
