3 things that I loved in Merida? That’s easy: the culture, the food and the people.
When a friend invites me to a weekend at Merida city, at first I thought that it going to be nice and peaceful weekend in a small town. I really didn’t know anything about Merida, only that a lot of people that lives in Cancun love to visit Merida, so I accept.
When we arrive to Merida I saw that not only is a city, but it is a very large and important cosmopolitan city.
You will find any hotel chain that you want to, also little local hostels to stay and enjoy the real life in Merida.
They call it the White City because most of the downtown area buildings are old white buildings with a lovely colonial style. In downtown area most of the streets are close to cars on Sundays so you can walk around.
Driving to Merida was fun and full of historic areas and nice little places to rest where local people offer you “aguas frescas”, iced flavor water with all natural fruit.
Have you ever taste Mexican fruit water?
Just think how gorgeous are this flavors: Jamaica, mango, horchata, limon, sandia, melon and naranja (Hibiscus flower, mango, rice with cinnamon, lemon, watermelon, cantaloupe and orange) yummy, yummy.
This one is pickley pear water. (is the cactus fruit)
